The Shreveport branch of the National Weather Service just announced that its radio transmitter is out of service until further notice.

Technicians are currently trying to repair and resolve the issues involving the transmitter.

Neighboring transmitters in Natchitoches, Texarkana, Center, Gilmer and Marietta are recommended for official weather radio feed information during this break in service.

A division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, The National Weather Service was formed in 1870. Originally known as the United States Weather Bureau, the name of the agency was changed to its current moniker in 1970.
