It's always good to get a big check— just ask Texarkana College.

The Delta Sigma Theta-Texarkana alumni chapter presented a $500 check to the Texarkana College Foundation today at the Texarkana College Nelson Administration Building.

Carolyn Moore, local chapter president, said the gift will be used for student scholarships at Texarkana College.

“It is very important to our chapter to give back to education in our community,” said Moore. “We know that receiving a scholarship can change the course of a student’s life.”

Texarkana College president, Jason Smith, received the check on behalf of TC Foundation and thanked the members for the generous contribution.

“We are so grateful to the Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae Chapter for helping promote higher education in our community by providing scholarship funds.

Through their vision and fundraising efforts, they contribute positively to helping young people achieve their dreams of earning a college degree or certificate.

The members of Delta Sigma Theta are doing remarkable work to help our region build a college-going culture,” said Smith.
