Grambling State University President Rick Gallot offered heartfelt condolences to the family of Grambling alumnus and current student 35-year-old Kendra Butler and her 14-year-old son Remington who were both tragically lost in the tornadoes and severe storms in the Ruston area on the morning of April 25, 2019.

Kendra Butler was a 2012 graduate of Grambling State University and obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Leisure Studies and Therapeutic Recreation. She had come back to Grambling as a current student to obtain a Masters degree of Sports Administration, according to Grambling media relations officer Jovan Hackley.

Hackley said that Grambling State University is currently using every resource at its disposal to help all students affected by the tragedy, including offering 3 days of food and housing to students displaced by the storm.

The university is also doing everything in its power to help its sister college, Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. President Gallot also encouraged all students to "support and look out for one another."
