The 34th annual Go Texan Rodeo is set to be one of the biggest and best yet at the Henderson County Regional Fairpark in Athens on April 26 and 27.

Kids under 6 can attend free of charge and advance tickets cost only $10 and $12 at the gate. The rodeo begins at 7:30 pm but gates open at 5 pm. The county is promising stellar roping talent, and tickets can be obtained at the Athens Chamber of Commerce or by calling 903.675.5181.

Besides a fabulous rodeo, a major Athens food event has been scheduled for opening day: Friday, April 26. The Fried Fish and Crawfish Boil is expected to attract a big crowd, and tickets are only $40 which includes rodeo admission.
On Saturday, April 27, the Go Texan Committee is hosting a BBQ Cook-off that you won't want to miss. Proceeds from the event go to youth scholarships in Henderson County. Entry is only $100 per meat or $200 for all 4 meats. A bean cook-off will also be held at the same time with entry only costing $50. Over the years, the Go Texan Rodeo has distributed more than $400,000 in scholarships to exceptional Henderson County college bound students.
