The problem of active shooters is a constant worry of school officials, churches, government employees and business owners. Are you prepared?

So two local law enforcement agencies are offering free training on Saturday.
The training is free to the public and will be held on Saturday, June 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Crosswalk Conference Center at Green Acres Baptist Church, 1607 Troup Hwy, in Tyler, Texas. Registration is not required for this event.

According to the Tyler Police Department:
"Terrible acts of violence continue to affect our lives and the lives of those we love. These events can happen anywhere at any time. Whether due to terrorism, work place violence, or the act of a mentally unstable person, our society continues to be the target of these attacks."

For the first time the Tyler Police Department and the Smith County Sheriff’s Office will join together to present this “free training” to the public. The training, “Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events”, teaches what happens during an event. The human response both physical and psychological, common actions of the actor, law enforcement response and actions you can take to help you and your loved ones survive the attack.

This subject is graphic and some portions of the training may not be suitable for children. Parents are strongly encouraged to “not” bring children to the training.
